Part 1: Okay, on a super basic level, this is is 3rd year in the league, minutes have gone from 9.3, to 11.9, to 19.5. FG% & 3pt% (& FT%) have all skyrocketed in that time, from 29.6/25.0/66.7 all the way to 45.2/41.0/86.0 this year.
For the FULL season this year, in his 19.5mpg, his line: 45.2/41.0/86.0 | 8.3p, 1.5r, 1,7a, 0.7s, 0.1b, just 0.4TO. And he's good defensively.
With his efficiency & defense, I really think that's somewhere around a 73, 74? I'm rusty, gimme some grace.
Part 2: I've made this point in Discord, but the Knicks trade for OG Anunoby was not only to get OG, but also to create more time for Deuce. I don't have the exact splits so I'll just use pre- and post-ASG.
Pre: 42 games, 3 starts, 12.4mpg, 5.9ppg, 0.9r, 1.0a, shooting .433/.407/.800 (TS 56.6%)
Post: 26 games, 11 starts, 31mpg, 12.1ppg, 2.3r, 2.8a, shooting .467/.412/.920 (TS 61.1%)
The Knicks 5-man group with McBride (and Brunson, DiVincenzo, Hart, and Hartenstein) is, I believe, the best 5-man group by +/- in the NBA. Sure, there are a few reasons for that, but he's one of those reasons.
Part 3: Playoffs! It's nut-cutting time and he just started a pivotal Game 5 and has clearly been one of the Knicks' trusted top 7 or so players throughout, even before some injuries pushed his role to a more prominent place.
24.7mpg, 10.5p, 2.0r, 2.0a, 0.5s, 0.1b, shooting .429/.375/.833 - clearly down a bit but this is the playoffs and his main role is the defense & energy he brings. And he's still shooting 37.5% from 3 which is the most important thing he can do for the team on offense (5.1 attempts per game in his 25mpg, btw).
I'm not really sure how high to go. I'll try not to overreact to the playoffs, and I'll acknowledge that "Part 2" is at least partially accounted for inside of "Part 1". But, he's looked like a legit & needed playoff rotation piece on a Knicks team that is in Round 2, a step away from the ECF. And he's been improving every year, and throughout the season. The more they put on him, the more he stepped up.
